BENEATH THE NAME
The life behind William P. Clayton — and the stories it inspired
I didn’t arrive at writing through the usual door. Life came first — work, family, loss, raising two daughters alone and enough unexpected turns to make fiction seem relatively straightforward.
Eventually, the stories I’d carried around for years stopped being things I might write someday and became things I had to write now. Some came from experience. Others from obsession, curiosity or the simple question: what would happen if...?
What connects them is the thing I care about most — recognisable people trying to survive circumstances they never saw coming.

Emotional Truth
Humour doesn’t diminish heartbreak. Sometimes it’s the only honest way into it
ORDINARY PEOPLE. IMPOSSIBLE PLACES
I’m interested in what people become when life refuses to follow the script.
FROM THE PAGE, OUT INTO THE WORLD
What began as writing for myself is beginning to find an audience. Will I Never became a FilmQuest 2026 Semi-Finalist, followed by an invitation to join the festival’s judging panel. The Harvesters has attracted publisher interest, while other screenplays and series are moving into development and industry conversations
